I work for Global Frontier Missions, a missionary training agency, providing pre-field training for missionary candidates. I specifically focus on “Heart Training”, helping our students grow in two main areas: 1) How to better abide with God amidst of the stresses of cross-cultural ministry, and 2) How to better love “the other”; those around you, and especially those who are different from you. And if that makes me sound like a super-Christian, don’t be fooled… I ALWAYS need that Heart Training at least as much as my students!
I did my undergraduate work at the University of Georgia, graduating with a degree in philosophy in 2009. I received a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2018.
I’ve been married since 2014 to my wonderful wife, Kelsey, and we have two children, Jack and Arden.
I’m still a work in progress. Thankfully, He is faithful to finish what He has started in me! (Phil 1:6)

- I’m not receiving email notifications even though I subscribed?
- Sorry this is happening. There are a few things you can do.

- To what extent is AI used in generation of content on this site?
- As a general moral principle, I do not approve of AI being used to generate or replace the human mind in generation of ideas and information. Which is to say, on this site, nothing I present as my own writing will ever be written by AI. Nor will I quote AI writing or summary without specifically noting the AI attribution. (At the time of writing this, I’ve only quoted Google’s AI Summary of information once for an article.)
- That being said, I am not an artist. I do frequently use AI image generation to create the cover images of different articles. That is just practical, but not my preference. If I ever have the budget to hire an artist to create cover images for this site, I would prefer that over continuing to use AI generated images.

- What Bible translation do you use?
- I generally prefer to use NIV, primarily because that’s the translation I first started to memorize Scripture in, so the NIV “sounds” right to me. I also think the NIV is generally approachable and readable, and does justice to the Biblical texts. However, I acknowledge most other translations to be equally valid.
- So, unless otherwise noted, all Bible quotations on this site are from the NIV.

- Why is this site laid out in this way?
- The primary answer is because I’m new to all of this. I’m very open to feedback on ways I could improve clarity!

- You said X in this article, and I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion, or I think you’re wrong about this. How can I share this question/feedback/concern?
- I want to be someone who is quick to listen, and always seeking to learn. If there’s something I can clarify, or communicate differently, I always want to hear that. And certainly, if I’m reading or teaching something incorrectly, I don’t want to personally be mistaken or ministerially spread that mistake to others.
It could be I’m wrong to think a certain way about a topic, or it could be that you’re mistaken. Dialogue helps us learn from each other’s wisdom and insights. So, at the bottom of each article is a comment section; please use that to share your thoughts, or you can email me at trhartleyblog.gmail.com.

- Is there anything I can do to help?
- I’d appreciate prayer, certainly. If you’d like to be more involved beyond prayer, I have a small group of people I ask to give me feedback on each article I post, helping me clarify and add polish where needed. Shoot me an email if you’d like to be a part of that!
